Hey all. Happy holidays to those online today.

Again, it's been a long while since I've been really active on this site. For a good reason, too.

This past year, I've kinda been on the fence about leaving, actually. Don't get me wrong, I still like art a lot and forever will, but I feel like it's just not in my heart at the moment. I've been away doing a bunch of other stuff unrelated to art, and I've been having a bunch of fun with what I'm doing now.

It probably also helped that I found a new job recently, and that's been taking a good chunk of my time recently. My priorities have definitely shifted.

As such, I'd like to take this moment to thank all those who I've met while this account was active. Thank you all, who I've talked and met with. Thanks to all those who've done requests/commissions for me, for all those hours spent working on stuff that I've asked for. Hopefully it wasn't too overbearing and you've learned more about art from that experience.

Now for the real talk: I'd like to make sure that I leave no loose ends with anyone before I leave. After all this time, I've completely forgotten to do two requests, which I'm planning on finally working on once this journal is posted. Unless there's something I forgot, that should be the last on my plate to do. Otherwise, if anyone reading this has something, they would like to say, by all means contact me through note (or on here if you can't for some reason).

By New Year's Eve/Day, I should be gone for good. If there's something that you'd like to be resolved, please contact me through my email: yurifan00@gmail.com

And with that, I leave the rest of you folks to enjoy your holiday festivities. I hope 2019 ends up being a good year for you all.

Peace out, guys. And thanks again.

Before I begin with this rant, I'd like to take the moment to thank all the people who have watched me over the past year already. There's still not much I've done yet, but I feel that will change soon enough. I would also like to give another huge thanks to all the people who have done requests and commissions for me for going along with my ideas and for trying to be mutually respectful and patient with me. Here's to hoping that I'll be able to share more of my ideas with all of you in the future.

But now, to the question at hand.

Whenever I try to ask anyone for a request, I try my hardest to be patient for it to be made. Obviously, good art can take a while to make, and it's only fair to give the requestee some leeway for other projects/obligations that may delay the completion of the request. That makes perfect sense in my head, and I have no qualms with it.

However, for some reason, I feel like I am somewhat less lenient when it comes to asking others for commissions instead. Don't get me wrong, I still try my hardest to give them the same level of patience/benefit of the doubt since a lot of things can happen (getting busy with classes, work schedule, someone getting sick/passing away, tablet or other art tools/internet not functioning are some of the reasonable delays I've experienced so far), but then I realize something:

Requests are free art. Commissions aren't. If I ask you for a commission, I'm effectively changing our stranger-to-stranger relationship to that of customer-to-service provider. I'm putting my faith in you that you'll take my money/points and be able to provide the service that I'm paying you for. It might seem a bit unnecessary, but if you're taking my money, that automatically means you want to do fair business with me, and I take that very seriously.

I'm also not saying that all commissioners are bad and try to rip you off whenever they can by just taking your money and making you wait forever to get the art you want, because there's been already a handful of cases in my personal experience where waiting for weeks or possibly even months was so worth the wait. In those same cases, there were very valid reasons for the extreme delay, such as said artist actually being pretty popular and me having to wait in their commission queue, or something as grave as losing all their files in their computer and having to start all over again. Again, as long as the reasoning is valid, I don't mind having to wait as long as I need to.

But then you have artists here and there whose reasoning isn't as valid and makes me question my choice of commissioning them. They make excuses such as "Oh, sorry! I totally forgot about it! I'll start it right now!" and still don't make any sort of progress weeks after. They can't even try to make a more valid excuse? Seriously?

Am I just being really impatient overall, despite how hard I try to be lenient? Or is there really that many number of amateur artists who just suck at time management and taking commissions seriously? I'm giving you something in return for your services to come as swiftly and greatly as you're able to manage, God and life and other circumstances willing...

...so if you can't give me an actual excuse for your laziness or your "depression" or whatever you can come up with, then what the hell is with the holdup then? Are you TRYING to cheat me?

Am I in the wrong for feeling angry whenever this happens? What do you guys think?

As this semester is already approaching its end (thank GOD for that), I realized that I'm gonna be a bit bored this winter break. As such, it only seems proper to keep drawing more, and what better way to do it consistently but with requests?

A few ground rules:

- I hold the right to deny your request for any reason. If such is the case, I will most definitely explain why I won't do your request.
- I will not draw furries, yaoi, anything with extreme detail, mecha, fetishes, shota/loli, or anything that's too mature. Anything else, we can discuss.
- The request will be done as a sketch. I warn you in advance, please don't expect the sketch to be of high quality, as I certainly can't guarantee that at the moment.
- I humbly ask that you be patient for me to be complete. I'm still in the middle of classes, and it does take me a while to draw anything that's more complex than lines and shapes.
- New rule: assuming that I start doing this regularly, there's a bit of a limit of how often you can ask of a request from me. If you already asked for requests two times in a row, you will not be allowed to ask for a third time. You'll have to wait until the third queue (in your case) is done before you have the chance to ask again.

Other than that, if you think you'd like me to try drawing something out for you, I'd be more than happy to. If you want a request, please be sure to send me a note.

This time, I'm thinking of doubling the amount of requests I'll handle. It might be a bit too much for me since I'm still just starting out, but I figure I'll get the hang of it eventually.

Just a little over halfway through this new semester. Really fell through some stress trying to deal with classes and not being able to pay tuition when the semester began, but things seems to be calming down at the moment.

Even though I'm taking 2 classes for game development, I've really only focused on one of them. I'm not sure what it is, but I just seem to tense up whenever I try to do art. It's certainly not that I hate doing it, I feel it's more of a confidence issue...which is probably why I haven't done anything in the past 2 months for my 3D Modeling class..God help me pass it.

Anyway, I've barely passed doing the first midterm project for my other Game Dev class. We're moving on to the second now, which is essentially a group project, and I decided to sign up as a concept artist for whatever art stuff we might end up using. I'm gonna need some practice with this, so I think it might be time I try something new.

I will try my hardest to do requests for you guys. As of this posting, I am currently accepting 2 requests to start getting back into drawing and trying to pick up some quick skills for this project.

Some ground rules, however:

- I will not draw furries, yaoi, anything with extreme detail, mecha, fetishes, shota/loli, or anything that's too mature. Anything else, we can discuss.
- The request will be done as a sketch. I warn you in advance, please don't expect the sketch to be of high quality, as I certainly can't guarantee that at the moment.
- I humbly ask that you be patient for me to be complete. I'm still in the middle of classes, and it does take me a while to draw anything that's more complex than lines and shapes.

Other than that, if you think you'd like me to try drawing something out for you, I'd be more than happy to. If you want a request, please be sure to send me a note.

So it's back to classes with me. I haven't been to all my classes yet, but so far the new school year seems pretty chill. Already met most of my friends, and am pretty psyched to start being productive for once.

Thing is, I'm taking an art class this semester (3D modeling and texturing, to be exact), and there's no better time for me to actually start getting back to art and start drawing regularly. I honestly would like to open up requests and commissions, should my level of art skill reach the point where I'm comfortable enough to try to draw almost anything you guys ask of me.

But I need to start somewhere, which is the current problem I have at the moment. I'm not sure where to start exactly, which is where I need help. Should I start with random doodles, or actually try to draw either fanart of characters or OCs which I've had in my mind for a while. I would really appreciate you guys' thoughts on this.
